2 Things You Can Do To Control Bed Bugs

Posted on

Bed bugs can be a huge problem for such a small insect. They can leave you with painful and itchy bites. Because they are so small, it's really easy for you to carry them around and to end up with an infestation in your front room, dining room, carpeting, and just about anywhere else where they can get a foothold. Bed bugs can also be really difficult to get rid of, which is why you need to have an exterminator come out to your house. There are things that you can do while you are waiting for the exterminator to come to your house.

Vacuum Everything

One thing that you can do is to use your vacuum and vacuum everywhere, including all the cracks and crevices in your floors, around your windows, just anywhere that you think that bed bugs could use to hide. Use a crevice tool to get into those little spots. Make sure that you empty out your vacuum after every use, and take the sweepings outside to a trash can there, after you have sealed the dirt in a bag. The reason to do this is to make sure that the bed bugs can't get back into your house. If you leave the used bag in your vacuum, they could even get a good foothold in your vacuum.

Mattress Covers

Another thing that you can do is to put mattress covers and pillow covers on all the beds. There are covers that are used specifically for bed bugs that have covered zippers. Having those covered makes it harder for the bed bugs to get out of the cover and out to the rest of your house. The reason that you want to cover your bed and pillows is that it will keep the bed bugs away from you. Keeping them away from you means that they aren't getting their food source. It also means that they aren't going to be able to spread through your house. The mattress covers won't get rid of them, but it will help to make sure that you can fight them off, and if you replace the covers when you get rid of them, you can keep more bed bugs from getting into your mattress.

If you have bed bugs, the best thing you can do is to call an exterminator. They can help you treat your house and get rid of them.
